Jalapeno Bacon Poppers

Jalapeno Bacon Poppers

I don't claim to be a great cook. In fact, I when I'm making cereal I keep a fire extinguisher nearby just in case things get out of hand. But I digress, these jalapeno bacon poppers are off the chain! Make the jump for the recipe.

Pants the cat gets revenge on a vacuum
Humpty Dumpty was pushed! Pants gets revenge on the robot vacuum.

Recently when I did the write up on how to zero the M16A1 series rifle, I got into a serious display issue with some HTML5 using <figure> and <figcaption> where their widths wouldn't match up. Arg! If you're in a similar ship, here's what I did...

Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures Game Simulator by Adam Konieska

Remember when I told you how cool the X-Wing Miniatures game was? Yeah, its pretty cool. A few friends and I are really into it, but how do you build the best squad? Well, I wrote a bit of code that's more than just a squad builder, it actually simulates the game so you can gauge the effectiveness of different builds! More after the jump...

Very cool looking. Any plans to work on this some more?

FYI I had to remove the fade div from the game log so that I could scroll the log back. On chrome OS X

Hey Zack, glad you liked it!

I'd love to finish it, but life keeps getting in the way and I keep running out of time. :-( I'll definitely post updates of the progress I make.

X-Wing Miniatures Game

The Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures Game is pretty awesome. I'd never really gotten into miniature gaming before this, but its pretty fun. Basically you and your opponent each assemble a squadron of ships and battle it out on a 3'x3' play area.

The game all comes down to...

How to Zero the M16A1 Series Rifle

How to Zero the M16A1

Now that I've got my M16A1 clone put together from the kit and my 80% lower, and the rear sight fixed, its time to take it to the range and get it sighted in. In order to do that I'll have to zero the sights. Finding an old copy of Army STP 21-1-SMCT from 1987 proved to be a bit difficult, so I've transcribed a copy here for future reference.

Fixing an M16A1 Rear Sight

M16A1 broken rear sight

So I took my recently finished M16A1 clone to the range to be zeroed, and I could not for the life of me get the group to move left or right. After a bit of searching, I discovered the rear sight drum was broken. Note the hairline crack in the photo.

Crap. Now what?

Cache Diagram

I'm very excited to announce improvements to caching in Homebräu CMS. After combing through pages and the core CMS design, I identified areas that frequently performed calculations and/or database queries. Pages like that used to be generated upon request.

Not anymore....
