Abominable Fish Monster

Ice Fishing

So there we were, separated from civilization by miles of snow and ice, struggling to survive. Low on snacks and beer, there were only two things to do, catch fish and chew bubble gum. And we still had plenty of bubble gum...

gone fishing

I went fishing this weekend for the first time in probably five years. Its been a long time. The fishing was slow but we had a lot of fun playing cards and games and stuff too.

But the fishing was slow

We took my boat out three different times, and between the four of us we only caught one fish. And naturally being the outstanding hunter/gatherer I am, it was me that actually caught the fish.

And it was tasty.

Walleye Photo

Back in my day, before Photoshop, we made our fish look bigger by holding them out in front toward the camera. I think I threw out my back trying to distort this one.

Fish from Hell

Dogfish

Seth and I went fishing today. It was freakin' awesome. He caught some kind of weird mutant fish that we were sure was some kind of genetic freak or possibly an invasive species. So we kept it in the boat for identification later. They guy at the dock said however that it was a Dogfish, a species native to the lake. He also said that it wasn't very good for eating. I had no intention of eating some crazy weirdo eel fish.

Wunderbar!

Yeah. Rr, right.

I went fishing yesterday. I didn't take the boat, I just sat on the end of the dock on E. Solomon rockin' a bobber and worm. I brought along my AM radio and listened to the twins game. The sun was shining and it was awesome. A beaver swam right up to the dock where I was sitting. It didn't know I was there until I screamed cause I thought it was going to attack me. Then I saw some turtles, and a baby turtle. A loon flew over, and I caught two bullhead. Both were very big. One looked like a veteran. Big scar across the top of its head, missing its left whisker. I let them both go. Bullheads are nasty.

disaligned

Only five days until the fishing opener. I still have to put line on my new reel, put the motor back on my boat, and install the new trolling motor and depth finder before I can hit the water. Its going to be hard to find time to do it all I think. Ick.

Working over nights is fun, but I have a fear it may get old fast. I need to find a passion for counting boxes, or I need to bring in my ipod. I think I'm going to miss the people from my day shifts. :(
